McChrystal To Challenge Obama For President?

"Many interesting conjectures about General McChrystal's eruption in public and his subsequent dismissal by President Obama. A connection in the Pentagon mentioned to me earlier today that his view, and those of his associates, is that the General could see that there would be no military victory in Afghanistan and that the subsequent public annoyance would promptly be blamed on him. Also, I am told, there is bitter animosity between the CIA and the U.S. Army over the former's use of drones to blast civilian areas, regardless of the number of innocent civilians killed or maimed by the attacks.

The CIA doesn't care what the Army thinks about this and the latter are worried that they will take the heat for something that was ordered by the White House but with plausable deniability on their part. Another reason for McChrystal's insubordination. Now, he can speak out as he chooses and it has been said that he could well be a viable candidate in the next Presidential elections. Perhaps the Man on the White Horse is at hand, perhaps not, but in any case, the next commander in Afghanistan must reckon with being stuck with the failure of the White House policies."
