Hipsters: An Intuitive Perspective

Jaye Beldo

http://blog.lavacocktail.com/2010/08/21/hipsters-an-intuitive-perspecitve.aspx

(editor's note: I wrote this after a recent trip to Minneapolis, where the hipster reigns supreme)

What could be more loathsome than that reprehensible bastion of the 80's AKA yuppies? Why hipsters of course-a mutant blend of both yuppies and hippies, conjured up by none other than psychopathic Madison Avenue brujos trying to outdo defense companies in the creation of the most effective and devastating weapons against humanity. What makes hipsters so worthy of our contempt is their hereditary hollowness-truly a marketing, if not genetic triumph far beyond the Grunge phenomena of the 90s. What is so menacing at the heart of all this is the pervasive influence hipsters have on everything from music to politics. Their marketing clout cannot be ignored. One only needs to look at how mediocre so-called "independent" publishers have become who have no choice but to cave in to their trend-a-minute demands. The same goes for music, art and literature as well because whatever enters into the hipster's perceptual field, whether it be a Beethoven sonata or a painting by Velasquez becomes instantly devalued-forever flat lined, no matter how vibrant and life sustaining they once were. In light of this instinctual desire to deaden everything, the hipster is responsible for the annihilation of culture on a global scale.

Hipsterism is an infectious disease rampantly spreading and no one is fully immune from its effects. It has contaminated life on a pandemic scale. As an example, I was in Spain in '08 to give a talk on my work and an audience member told me afterward that the literary references I had made ( esp. to Ortega y Gasset's work The Revolt of the Masses ) would not be understood because the young people in Spain didn't read that kind of stuff anymore. Interestingly enough, I found myself pleading with the young audience at the beginning of my talk not to get sucked into the corporate vacuum cleaner like Americans and to value their culture and heritage. Obviously, my admonitions fell on deaf ears.

In the heart of the hipster lies a glib savagery. The hipster reflexively will consider you in a way that makes you feel like you're being scanned by something not quite human. If the hipster cannot find vulnerabilities to take advantage of, they will move onto the next available prey at hand. All this happens within a mere two or 3 seconds time. There's a kind of predatory absolute in their hearts, which is understandable, considering that it is required for their game- of- chess approach to life. The hipster will do anything whatsoever to checkmate you. Usually this is done with a cold and calculating stare or empty promises they never intend to fulfill in the first place or even bragging in an unsolicited way about their salaries while savoring Rotted Cod, Smoking Loon or some other fashionable wine. Yet, most tragic is how the hipster has virtually zero respect for their elders and the riches of wisdom and experience they possess. Rather, a golden ager's bank account and whether or not they drive a hybrid Toyota Prius matter the most. Personally, I have experienced this with the 20 something crowd who cannot even give even a modicum of thanks for what they get. Expressing gratitude is beneath the hipster and they have no qualms letting you know this. At first I thought this was anomalous behavior but soon found out that, sadly, it is the across the board norm. One hand does not, nor will it ever, wash the other with the hipster crowd.

It is pitiful that hipsters have no ability to discern how they are being manipulated by the corporate powers that created them in the first place. At least yuppies were fully aware that they were materialistic, money grubbing slimeballs. However, hipsters are unconsciously deft when it comes to camoflauging this trait-primarily through their perpetual fixation on whatever trend they are prompted to follow-whether it be drinking Hamm's beer out of a can, which, over thirty years ago was the blue collar worker's only means of salvation at the end of the day, to listening to Coldplay while drafting up their plans to re-model their condos to in order to one up their next door neighbors. ( a contractor I talked to in Minneapolis told me that he made a lot of money by catering to hipsters who he could convince that replacing their marble counter tops with concrete was the in thing to do amongst other ploys.)

Hipsters are not going to go away any time soon considering the enormous influence they have on everything from Hollywood to interpersonal relationships. One suggestion I have for the Lava Cocktail reader is to work on heightening your awareness of their inherent manipulative abilities and protect yourself as best you can from their detrimental glitz, otherwise you will compromise your own humaneness in a way that will be most difficult to rectify. In fact, you may very well become one of them if you don't do this, no matter how old you are.

Dear Reader,

Thanks for tuning in to the latest installment of the Lava Cocktail Review. It has been rather a rough time here at the Lava Cocktail Lounge, but I seem to be surviving the spiritual tests doled out to me non-stop and they have afforded much needed insights into everything from the sorry state of humanity to the workings of evil forces above, below and 24/7 all around. Most humans are simply not equipped to deal with the onslaught of evil in our world and opt for passive acceptance of it, unconsciously acclimating to these forces via whatever distraction or numbing means is available-whether its T.V. or onanizing to the latest conspiracy.

Since the Autumn equinox, I've embarked on an intensive purge which began with gathering up and getting rid of all the conspiracy, mind control, UFO, and 'alternative' spirituality books that have accumulated in my library over the last 10 years. It has been a pleasantly cathartic experience and I must confess I feel quite a bit lighter, more joyous and expansive than ever before. It has also helped me get in really great physical shape as I have had to haul dozens and dozens of boxes up a flight of stairs and into the garage. At first, burning the dreck in a huge bon-fire wearing a Nazi uniform was the only option-destined for You Tube. A fantasy was also harbored of various conspiracy writers all holding hands, infinite love pouring out of their eyes in mutual respect of each other, as they danced around the flames with ecstatic abandon. With this unlikely vision squelched, I distributed the collection. for real, to various used book stores in Minneapolis. The meager proceeds garnered were then used to buy bird food for some grateful critters in the backyard such as Red, Black and Grey Squirrels, Yellow Shafted Flickers, reclusive Cardinals and of course the Blue Jays at large whose gulosity knows no bounds. It was all akin to a Tibetan air burial where the corpses are ground up for the vultures to eat. Most beneficial however has been the liberation of my soul from the labyrinthine prison of conspiracy and other forms of mediated weirdness, now and forever.

In the peaceful aftermath of the purge, I still hold on to my view that the only real conspiracy is ourselves and how what we say and do effects other people. Love and forgiveness are all that are really left as there's nothing, absolutely nothing left to get intrigued by or wrapped up in anymore. Ever since my podcast on love and forgiveness ( http://blog.lavacocktail.com/2010/03/13/love-and-forgiveness-are-out-of-style.aspx ) was posted-traffic to my blog has decreased considerably as people are obviously looking for ways to remain in fear, so they can justify their shut down, apathetic state, while looking for ways to absolve themselves of all responsibility to the planet. Regular readers of the Lava Cocktail Review are perhaps tired of this hobby horse I often get on, but conspiracy has become nothing but a Fun House commodity that the likes of Alex Jones and others daily hawk. The perps of the JFK Et. Al. assassinations will never be brought to justice, chem-trails will continue to be sprayed and Lady Gaga will shove the Illuminati into deep recesses of our soul-all in pop 4/4 until the end of time no matter how successfully we figure it all out.

Honestly, I derive much more satisfaction doing things such as consoling an accordion player at the nursing home-which occurred recently while visiting my folks there. He had lost his wife the year before and started crying. Holding his hand and looking into his swollen eyes, I asked him to share the good memories of his lifelong companion with me. He brightened up quite a bit and shared stories of them playing Polka tunes at various taverns across West Central Mn. and North Dakota. And to think, I could have used my time more wisely, trying to figure out the Bilderbergers's next geo-political move. A few days ago, I found myself doing some intercessory praying for the well being of a single mother whose wayward video game app kept turning her cell phone on and off with an ominous, gargled roar-over and over again-while her toddler ran off to the kitchen of the restaurant we were in, taking advantage of the tragic distraction to slip away. Instead of praying for her and her child's welfare, I perhaps should have spent the time trying to predict when the Bohemian Grovers will initiate a New World Order takeover and ruffle my feathers on Coast to Coast about it instead.

During the above mentioned purge, I've also donated thousands of dollars worth of CDs, DVDs, books, art supplies, clothes, furniture, computers, musical instruments etc. to the local Salvation Army as a way to walk my compassion/generosity talk-esp. considering donations are way down this year as people clamp up in response to the bleak economic forecasts they're daily fed-the so called 'adversity' we are facing. As I do this, what comes to mind are the people in third world countries who have nothing to lose and are the kindest, warmest, most open souls I've ever met. With all the talk of the U.S. turning into a third world country, let's hope the same happens here-but it will only occur if we pull the fear plugs out of our butts.

Sorry folks, I cannot stoop to fear mongering like Alex Jones or hate mongering like John Kaminski, all in hopes that you go out and buy guns and gold and freeze dried food to fortify yourself for a Martial Law Armageddon that will never happen because it will put too big a dent in retail sales-even if it lasted for only one day. Focus on your hearts and ask yourself what you can do for someone less fortunate than yourselves instead of waiting to see politicians shapeshift into Boa Constrictors or UFOs from the Pleiades clean up the earth's atmosphere by 2015 as they have apparently promised. It is the only way to put conspiracy hucksters out of business-something that needs to be done pronto IMO. You can start by getting rid of your conspiracy books and feeding the birds instead.

Cheers,

Jason Bodel

Coal Burning Virtual Reality

(editor's note-a rather uppity missive I sent to Mondo 2000 who actually published it. It was also quoted in Mark Dery's book, "Escape Velocity" How ironic that virtual reality, the internet/cyberspace first hyped by the 'zine is still sustained by our archaic coal and nuclear based energy grid.)

Dear M2000,

I'm writing in regards to the 'direction' your magazine is taking. Every time I open up a new issue of Mondo 2000 I feel like I've missed the cybernetic boat. I'm ultimately thankful that I am not aboard your boat for it is floating in a Virtual Void, completely unmoored, with no substantial roots of any kind. Your flippant elitism, as evidenced by page after page of nebulous, smart drug induced prose attempts to mask your basic ontological ignorance of human evolution. The smart drugs you editors have taken have made you only into smart asses. Every page of your rag smacks of a callow betrayal of aesthetic, literary and philosophical integrity, in short, a pop trashing of the frontiers of consciousness. You surf these frontiers like like babitts tossing beer cans and rudely clicking off instamatic portraits. It is tragic that your magazine is supposed to represent the new consciousness of the coming bi-millenium. You do not take your task very seriously (R.U. Sirius? Yes I am!). After reading Mondo 2000, I feel that something is being taken away from me, rather than me gaining something. You really have no intention of enlightening your readers but rather distancing us by your arcane use of terms, ideas you yourself are unsure about. There doesn't seem to be any virtue in your virtual reality. Why don't you start addressing some of the more crucial socio-economic and environmental issues at hand?

Sincerely,

Jaye Beldo

Art from the Overworld
Jaye Beldo

(editor's note: Here's an excerpt from an article I wrote years ago that included two other artists. One, a self promotional virago, deleted what I wrote about Frank Bigbear Jr. and the other artist-then formatted the piece to make it look like I had written it only about her and was distributing it to galleries on the east and west coast. So, I've taken it upon myself to delete what I wrote about her below. She was one of the main inspirations for my novel A Stab in the Light.)

In the work of Native American artist Frank Bigbear, Jr. exhibited recently at Intermedia Arts in downtown Minneapolis, part of the: "Endangered: Art and Performance by Men of Color" installation, the other side of the coin of so-called spiritual art is painfully depicted in terms of the secular conditions of many whose spiritual heritage lays in the ruin of oppression by those in power.

Within the sickly psychedelic panorama of Bigbear's work, born of what seems to be visions induced by inhaling metal flake spray paint, drinking kerosene or lighter fluid, the ghastly, great white, twentieth century foreclosure on American Indiana's spiritual heritage is agonizingly depicted. An ironic, cubist betrayal (an image of Picasso is the only image left undistorted) housing the work has fragmented and drained the archetypes of Indian mythologies, narrowing our perspectives, not liberating them in multi-dimensional resonance. Not only is Indian mythological heritage fragmented and nullified, but also heritages of other oppressed peoples throughout the third world who are the current victims of eradication by whites in power. In one of the panels, a starving African child with a swollen belly plopped miserably in a bowl meant for food is framed by a motto inscribed on the bowl's rim: Life is short, Death is Long. In the upper panel of the tryptich work "Chemical Man in a Toxic World", even the spirit guides cannot escape dismemberment by the cubist razor blades of "DWEMS" (Dead White European Men) and their appropriated (stolen) primitive inclusiveness. Mutilated mandalas bleed their bile nectar in garish acidic colors into the geomtric frames which try to house them in an obscenely sublimated perspective. In the uppermost portion of the work, a partially shrunken head, its rubbery scalp impaled in the manner of the Lakota Sun Dance participants, sheds its toxic head blood to the white man's colorless sun, in a sacrifice unappealed.

Appalled at myself, angry at the initial disregard of Frank Bigbear Jr. and his people's suffering when I first surveyed the work, I thought of all the times I passed through the neighborhoods on Franklin Avenue in my comfortable car, shrugging my shoulders as I drove by, unconcerned with what was really going on inside the minds and hearts of the drunk Indians I saw, callowly writing them off as casualties of the modern world. I had no recourse as to what to do about it and still do not. As a 'priveledged' white I was forced to look at the indifference deliberately installed in me by my culture. I realized how much I have to fight to cast out a genocidal attitude which penetrates me like neutrinos out of a t.v. set while I sleep invading the possible sanctity of my dreams of a liberated future for all. The work made me aware of my own spiritual arrogance, an arrogance I thought I was too sensitive to carry as a person struggling to shed the biases of my own heritage as a white. The illusions that I foster, that somehow my soul is a favored one and that a reserved escape route will be available when things get really bad all lay shattered like the images in the work. I left the gallery feeling helpless, panicking, ashamed, sick to my stomach and head. I managed to gather my energies and attended a psychic fair at St. Anthony Main. Walking past the tarot readers, crystal vendors, palm readers all charting the futures of the shopping mall dwellers, I thought I heard someone screaming from within Frank Bigbear's work back at the gallery.

In a positive way, the work in its conveyance of suffering, helped me gain insight into my own crises of feeling helpless. The work invites me to reach in through the cubistic window frames and pluck out, the starving baby and nourish it instead of standing catatonic, unable to act. The invitation encourages me to pick out a radioactive flower and hold it to my heart. My hands and wrists may be slashed by the fragments of the shattered world within, but, somehow I am invited into the work to help those trapped within, since much of what they are trapped in, I am, in a way responsible for. Indeed, the work is more a reflection of my attitudes and prejudices than it is of the current spiritual condition of American Indians. I am elated, yet horrified that I too will have to some day pass through the hallucinatory detriment that the work consists of, pass through my own psychological ruin on route to an individuation actualized within the world and not beyond it. Frank Bigbear Jr.'s work has inspired me to strive for a hope within but not until we confront the horrors of our own misgivings about a spirituality some of us have stolen and claim it as our own.

An Offer the Minnesota Vikings Cannot Refuse:

After one of the most dismal seasons the Minnesota Vikings have ever had, it is obvious that Curse of the Lutefisk http://blog.lavacocktail.com/2009/12/31/curse-of-the-lutefisk.aspx is a strong as when it was first wished upon the team by Sven Larsen so many years ago. From Favre's Sexting scandal to Brad Childress's axing in November to the recent collapse of the roof of the Metrodome, it is obvious that something supernatural is very awry.

Ol' Sven

Having much experience in breaking curses, I, Jason Bodel hereby offer my services to the ailing franchise and suggest that team pays me $1.5 million to end, once and for all, the Lutefisk plight. The price is a mere pittance-not much more than one day's earnings for Brett Favre If the Vikings ignore my offer, it is guaranteed that the curse and its stench will follow them wherever they go. The Curse of the Lutefisk will prevail until the end of time!

(editor's note: I received this letter from Peter Russell, an ostracized poet who lived in a windmill in Italy and once hobnobbed with Ezra Pound-a very un-PC thing to do. I had sent him a few of my articles on the plight of PC in the U.S. wrongly assuming it hadn't reached Europe yet. Peter passed away in Jan. of 2003 and his hand written letter is one of the few sent to me that I have bothered to save all these years.)

Peter Russell
12 Jan '96

Dear Jaye Beldo,

Your letter brought me great comfort at a very difficult time. At close on 75 years old and after two major surgical operations in the past three months, I am (against medical orders) on the point of leaving for London for a lecture tour, since my financial position is so "desperate", as they say. The official literary authorities will have nothing to do with me (I am completely non party-political) but private groups and individuals favor my work. I have published 25 long prose articles and 500 or more poems in the past two years. Total income $500. One can't live on $250 a year. Everyone talks and writes poetry, no one buys it. I support my 17-year-old son, a widely published poet too.

Here with, I send you a foretaste of my work. I would like to write you a long letter but I am so behind writing my lectures for London that I must be brief.

Creative writing has become big business for organizers-teachers who have never written a column, educational psychologists and sociologists, publishers about how to "get on" in the world. (Poets and writers, associated writing programs), the NEA (Antichrist's henchmen and minions) and the journalists who look for news and want only novelties. Po Biz nous.

In England, the Arts Council say "The new poetry is the new Rock and Roll" "Mythology is dead, the real poetry is on the street corner." Well, let them!

Your best mentor would be the New York monthly, New Criterion who savaged the Minneapolis Gay gladiators in their May or June issue 1994. And the new Norton anthology of recent U.S. poetry, recently reviewed by John Haynes. There is no literary criticism today because it isn't PC to call anything good or no good.

"Urine and faeces" (!): see how it CAN be done. The grunge think I'm an old fogey living in the past. I'm far more "contemporary" than them. But like Mandelshtam "I have never been anyone's contemporary." The grunges exemplify non-entity. Read Plato's Parmenides! To one who does not exist, nothing is.

Who publishes Robert Hughes, Poetry of Complaint? Ought I to read it? If it's only negative, I have no time for it. Healing is making whole.

Poetry is my central thing, my personal craft and trade. That means:

1, Contemplation and reflection. "A sort of religiosity."

2. Projection of imagination.

3. Scholarship.

4. Reading and writing of criticism.

5. Publicity and marketing.

Call itself is a sort of semi-transparent screen through which one perceives "poetry"-the numinous presence of the "other". The essence of poetry is non-figurative, beyond the image (s). It is the Pythagorean tuning the soul to the world of the intelligible essences. You can only see the light when it is interrupted by an obstacle. The poem itself is an obstacle which diffracts the light.

I am preparing an essay on Plato's Phaedrus as the best textbook of creative writing ever written. I shall be ostracized by the poetic community. Good. No loss.

Your two essays are absolutely fine. I can't fault a single word or concept. I shall reread them often. Song is the sacrifice of the voice to divinity. There is no literary criticism these days. Only hype-or silence. Why are you an Ex-artist? Why Minneapolis? You know the poetry of Dana Gioia? Exquisite. Surely the best living U.S. poet? And a very fine critic too. Gray Wolf Press.

Yes, for me, poetry demands transcendence, beauty no cult of self but no elimination of Self either.

Italy is like the UK, USA or Germany. Media, Internet, 24 hours a day of entertainment (for the money profit of the gambeen.) There are a few people in Italy who care, as in all countries.Ep. USA.

To evoke Eros once again. I've been doing just this for 50 years. We are all internal exiles, one can only survive by contact with a few like-minded people. It takes decades to find them. Certainly not on Internet.

I will collaborate willingly on Momus. But I have no knowledge of him save what one can glean from the classical handbooks. Send me photocopies all you can find on Momus, and I'll write on a contemporary Momoid vision. As for the rest, let my articles and poems say it all?

Warmest wishes,

Peter Russell

p.s. My son at 14 was publishing much admired poems in Italian in the lit. reviews. I support him entirely and he deserves it. He works 16 hours a day, minimum, like me.

(editor's note: This article appeared in The Wave-a Clear Channel publication on the west coast. I was surprised they ran it.)

Jaye Beldo of Lake Havasu, Nevada, has started a support group for people who suffer from what he calls Advertising Affliction Disorder. "One of the first full blown AAD experiences I had was when I was stuck in traffic and I saw the Marlboro Man jump out of a billboard and start rounding people up on the sidewalk and herding them into the terminal illness ward in a nearby hospital," explains Beldo. "I was on a radio show in Canada the other day and a caller said that she had a dream about having sex with Ronald McDonald and that it was great, so I'm not alone in this."

Beldo claims that the most frequent advertising icons to "visit" people with AAD are the Marlboro Man, Ronald McDonald, the Pillsbury Doughboy and Joe Camel. Common symptoms of AAD include the inability to appreciate art, music, literature and the inability to relate to others in a human way. Beldo claims that many AAD sufferers attempt to cure their depression, apathy and indifference through consumerism. "For me, the most annoying symptom is a growing inability to distinguish between advertising and politics. The other night I watched George W. Bush morph into the Tidy Bowl Man and back into himself again, over and over, until I just gave up trying to stop it."

Beldo believes many AAD sufferers start with hallucinations of just one corporate mascot, then gradually develop a larger repertoire of visitors. "I had nine advertising icons such as Palmolive Madge, Mr. Clean and Mr. Whipple make up the Supreme Court during one rather unpleasant evening when I was trying to get to sleep," said a sorrowful Beldo. "I forced myself out of that unpleasant vision, but realized that it wasn't really all that far from the truth considering that we have a bogus president in office now because of the Supreme Court's ruling on the so-called 2000 election."

"Most of the time, single icons haunt me, but they will interact with other icons or political figures such as the Pillsbury Doughboy sodomizing John Ashcroft with the Patriot Act, or maybe it was the other way around."

Beldo says that the psychiatric community at large has not embraced the perils of his condition, but he encourages those who suffer from this affliction to contact him at aadfree@aol.com to share their stories and to organize group therapy sessions. "It wouldn't surprise me to see some drug available on the market next year to 'cure' it," Beldo speculates. "No doubt they'll have some kind of mascot to promote the AAD remedy - a pill with arms and legs like the California Raisins."

Hippocratic Oath

Hippocratic Oath

"I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug."
-from the Hippocratic Oath

Recently, I had an encounter with a so called doctor who appears to have excised the above from the Hippocratic Oath she was required to take upon graduating from medical school. I had driven nearly 20 miles to a hospital, after I was told over the phone that they would put my elderly father up for a couple of nights until a suitable place could be found for him. However upon arrival, the doctor in ER said no, that they would not do this. I told her that I would not have come all that way if I had been informed that he couldn't stay there. Instead of sympathizing with my plight however, the doctor called the cops. Two officers appeared and I convinced one of them that I wasn't a threat, just very stressed, tired, confused and frustrated at the incompetence of the system. He was more warm and understanding than the doctor, and knew that my emotional state was justified. Even though they assessed that I wasn't going to harm anyone, they ended up taking my dad to another facility in a cop car. As I was walking out of ER, the doctor glared at me from the nurses station and said with great contempt: "I have a room for you."

Quite disheartened by the above experience, I took it upon myself to re-read the Hippocratic Oath and realized that, like the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, it has been totally gutted of its relevance. I suggest printing out the following, laminating it and carrying it with you the next time you go to a medical facility. Pull it out and remind doctors about the warmth/sympathy/understanding part of the oath, if they treat you as inhumanely as I was treated. In a world where critically ill patients are yanked out of hospitals and being dumped onto the streets to fend for themselves, it is even more important now to restore the humanitarian element, that once constituted the Hippocratic Oath. Here's a version written by Louis Lasagna in 1964:

The Hippocratic Oath: Modern Version

swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

The Fiction Taboo

The Fiction Taboo
by
Jaye Beldo
lavacocktail.com

In our tumultuous age, there is a lower tolerance level for ambiguity and uncertainty. Such an unfortunate pathology certainly figures into the equation of what is marketable in regards to published material and the fiction genre is currently bearing the brunt of this, scapegoated into a netherworld of indelible insignificance. In response, most publishers are now shunning inclusion of fiction titles, opting for more sale friendly "nonfiction" or "creative nonfiction" titles. The latter is a laughable genre in itself, "creative" being nothing more than a euphemism for flat out lying.

One of the original intents of fiction was to safely import messages to the public via bypassing authoritarian scrutiny. Writers such as Jonathan Swift deftly wove his Gargantuan tales in a way to convey the folly and hypocrisy of an impending Catholic monarchy without losing his Lilliputian head. Jules Verne also was a master at encoding his fiction, esp.with allusions to the Masonic manipulations of the powers that be and also escaped punishment as his references were much too subtle, intertwined and rarified for the brute willed globalists he sought to shed light on through his novels.

During my 10+ year stint as a book reviewer, I have helplessly watched the disappearance of poetic, inspired and authentically transformative works. Instead, books which amount to nothing more than a dull litany of declarative sentences, serving to bolster the writer's importance but leaving us all painfully deprived of a more beneficial dimension once sustained through metaphor ( a word which originally meant "to carry across") have become all too common. My primary reason for going into book reviewer retirement stems from this retarding phenomena. None of these works lead to what is called "direct knowledge" fostered by an intuitive awareness evoked via poetic techniques. ( I highly recommend delving into J. Nigro Sansonese book, The Body of Myth because the author shows how Greek myths were used to evoke and sustain meditative states)

In light of this literal plight, the fiction taboo needs to be immediately lifted because relegating this once vital genre to the ghetto fringes is quite detrimental in a number of ways. Such a downplaying of fiction encourages more and more literalism-something we need less of considering the dire consequences of subscribing to the illusion of sanctioned surety as evidenced primarily by determinist fanatics encouraging apocalypse in hopes of what has been written in the bible will come true and secretary of defense Robert M. Gates now forcing Christianity upon troops via biblical fascism.

However, the downplaying of fiction has an even more detrimental effect than encouraging an apocalyptic literalism. It deprives the imaginal plane of the very life force it needs to sustain itself and the muses which inhabit it. The imaginal plane is just as real as the physical plane and one only needs to delve into the work of the Islamic scholar Henry Corbin to gain sufficient understanding of this, esp. his work Creative Imagination in the Sufism of Ibn 'Arabi or a more accessible venue to Corbin's work, Tom Cheetham's The World Turned Inside Out: Henry Corbin and Islamic Mysticism. Writers such as William S. Burroughs called this realm 'inter-zone' and had considerable success in tapping into it for use in his own fictional works which still pulse with relevant bewilderment.

Yet thanks to the number crunchers dictating what gets airtime in the book market, we are deprived of such wonders as the imaginal plane and are forced bow to a collective mentality which gets more confined, predictable and "factual" the more our planet so desperately tries to open up to a cosmos rife with quantum indeterminancy, accelrated fractal expanse and nonlocal transference of information. Blame it on the "prison warders" but do whatever you can to bring fiction back to life even if you have to brave entry into some bookstore basement to rummage through the dustbin of remaindered titles beckoning to your soul to be experienced.

Fear is the Beginning of Idiocy

(editor's note: I wrote the following for The Konformist in response to manufactured fear and decided to post it considering how much of it is being generated-with the crashing economy, the threat of marital law, etc ).

With the big Y2K let down as well as the May 5th, 2000 hoopla over the planetary alignment that was supposed to shift the poles and extinguish us all, (except for those hiding in Australia along with Stan and Holly Deyo), conspiracists/disasterists are left with nothing much to chew on these days. For now anyway. No doubt some author or prophet wannabe will conjure up a New/ Improved doomsday scenario replete with asteroids, Satanic incarnations, mass meltdowns, instantaneous Ice Ages engirdling the earth, to imaginatively macabre versions of New World Orderism, thus generating more and more book sale revenues as well as public acclaim for the authors. We need to start scrutinizing more subtly, the intentions behind these conjured scenarios offered to an all too suggestible and wanting public ever so anxious to hook its projections onto whatever is immediately available. Cutting through the aura of fascination and morbidity these essentially hope negating works generate should be a top priority for the more responsible and spiritually altruistic amongst us.

Using a kind of intuitive intelligence inherent in every one of us, we can start to see how much of the conspiracy/prophecy genre itself can negatively effect us, thwarting our potential growth and overall evolution towards fearlessness. We can use the yardstick of our subtle bodies (the aura and chakras) to see just how deeply manipulative conspiracy/disaster authors can be, whether they are consciously aware of it or not.

In the early 1990's an intuitive named Gordon Michael Scallion set forth to describe disasters to come at the turn of the millennium. There were even these deluxe laminated maps sold at New Age shops and via mail order that showed the Pacific coastline skirting Nebraska, most of the Florida peninsula submerged, new islands, even continents, popping up out of the oceans, etc. Gordon described mass migrations of refugees from the east and west coasts, doubling, even tripling the population of the Midwest, one of the only 'safe refuges', he declared in his visions. However, when none of these unsavory scenarios manifested in the late 90's as he said they would, it was suggested by people attempting to defend him, that he was tapping into a 'false time line' to garner his information. Others said that it was a time line that we may have tracked en route to disaster, if it weren't for our higher consciousness which steered us on a more positive course. ( I much prefer the latter explanation and the positive potential inherent within to ward off fatalism, at least within ourselves). However, In spite of such odd justifications for his mis-prophecies, such fateful blunders must be considered mere dry rehearsals for what's to come in the world of global forecasting in the new millennium when the real disast-orial fireworks are supposed to premiere.

As an intuitive counselor and practitioner of Kriya Yoga, I often sense, mostly during meditation, that possible psionic, radionic and holographic technologies/psychnologies are employed in the creation and sustenance of conspiratorial, doomsday as well as Utopian scenarios as found in such books as The Celestine Prophecy.. (Sur) realities can be inserted in from the lower astral plane, the plane just above our three dimensions and around individuals and groups to sustain nearly any chosen illusion so desired. According to Barbara Marciniak:

"The ultimate tyranny in a society is not control by martial law. It is control by the psychological manipulation of consciousness, through which reality is defined so that those who exist within it do not even realize that they are in prison."

She then elaborates on the holographic technology employed by the 'World Management Team' hiding in another dimension (similar if not related to David Icke's Reptocracy at large as spelled out in his book, The Biggest Secret), used to create such hard to detect prisons. Perhaps some of the conspiracy/prophecy books sold to us are manifestations of these manipulative holograms, solely designed to keep us restricted, confined and disoriented. Whether real and/or imagined, we can benefit greatly from her multiplex metaphor and contemplate the holograms that are inserted into us on a daily basis, whether by our loved ones, the local Chamber of Commerce or the New World Order and decide whether they'll be beneficial to us or not. By adopting a primarily yogic perspective on conspiracy/fatalism/utopianism, we can transform if not altogether transcend the fear and anticipation that generates and sustains these holograms once and for all and possibly come from a genuine place of infinite compassion, unlimited expanse and fearlessness. From a yogic perspective, we can sanely respond to conspiracy/paranoia and the cornucopia of disaster scenarios currently on the market and consider them as a welcome opportunity for further spiritual evolution.

One effective way to gauge the credibility of such material, whether it comes from the subconscious mind of the author, data 'objectively' culled from the 'real' word, the CIA/Disinformation publishing houses abound or the so called higher dimensions, is to employ yogic meditation techniques and breathing exercises to enhance our intuitive awareness. Such methods can also strengthen our personal energy fields, making us less vulnerable to these malignant influences.

Whenever I meditate and the astral marauders are itching to trick me with a doomsday hologram or even a mere projection of my own ego, they first try to wreak havoc with what is called the 'moon center', located in the back of the head, the area of the Medulla Oblongata or 'Mouth of God.' Usually I sense that this area tenses up and my breathing gets shallow. I simply say, 'detach' or "I am different' and focus on breathing deeply and relaxing. I also check to see if I'm holding tension in the perineum area and then relax. It is most important to dis-indentify from these negative influences in as many ways as possible and to do this on a continual basis. The more we do this, the less effect things seemingly outside of ourselves have on us.

Unfortunately, persons who have done a lot of drugs and/or abused alcohol have moon centers that are far too open or distorted, making them vulnerable to belief systems, memes (thought forms with a life of their own) and other mental viruses. Many conspiracy authors and lecturers who make a living peddling conspiratorial delusions, often unconsciously imported from other dimensions, have damaged or undeveloped moon centers which are controlled by malevolent forces. Detrimental influences such as these can easily enter the victim's perforated aura, enter through the moon center and colonize the mind as a result. After awhile, the unsuspecting one thinks the belief system or scenario is her/his own and develops an uncanny system of 'objective' justifications to support the belief.

I suggest watching the documentary 'Blood in the Face' on the growing Neo-Nazi movement in America and using your own intuitive abilities to see the negative forces controlling the moon centers of the members of the Aryan Nation. In yogic parlance, these hostile forces or 'adversaries of the gods' are called the Asuras or demons. According to Sri Aurobindo, they occupy what he calls the 'mentalised vital plane' and are similar to the Titans found in Greek mythology (see his book The Integral Yoga for more details). If you have trouble visualizing what the asuras look like, I recommend such epic stories as the Ramayana which describes in colorful and entertaining detail the asuric forces and how we can counter them through yoga and other forms of sincere effort. However, as a word of warning, in modern times, asuras are usually wearing three piece Armanis, hiding in some corporate boardroom, donning the guise of a faceless CEO. Krishnamurti once said, 'The evil of our time is the loss of consciousness of evil." Through reclaiming our intuitions, we can start to regain such a needed awareness and respond to what seems to be hidden accordingly.

In order to prevent being duped by some kind of conspiracy/prophecy whether of promise, peril or somewhere in between, I often will pick up the book, video/audio tape or magazine which promotes it and hold it in my hands. I can then determine if I'm ultimately going to benefit or merely be brain or heart washed by the thing. Usually the information that comes to me is instantaneous and direct. Other times I have to re-approach the work to make sure there is little or no interference from my subconscious mind and its many unexplainable biases. As a book reviewer, I often employ this method to determine if a book is worth reviewing or not. Usually I start to feel dizzy and disoriented if the text is programmed and/or whammied in one way or another and promptly put the book away. If it is genuine I usually feel the top of my head, the crown chakra, vibrate and open up as well as my heart.

The following excerpt demonstrates how to use intuitive/yogic talents to address the conspiracy/prophecy genre and to further develop ones discriminative abilities whether your reading a tractate by Nostradamus or USA Today. For this article, I chose James Redfield's best selling, The Celestine Prophecy to read psychically, a book that promises inevitable utopia for us all if we heed the author's 'channeled' spiritual advice. Advice, I might add, rendered in the most simplistic and spiritually hackneyed of terms:

I hold The Celestine Prophecy in my hands after opening up my hand chakras (by rubbing palms together, taking a few deep breaths and closing my eyes.) The first thing I notice is that I'm losing my grounding, i.e., I feel spaced out, disoriented. My breathing is becoming restricted. I see the publishing house which promotes Redfield's books. I see that negative Freemasonic elements have infiltrated and have taken over. If there is a capstone missing on the pyramid, it can be found hidden in the bottom line. policy of this corporation. I take a few more deep breaths and relax. I now see vampiric elements , mercenary ghouls that float from psychic war to psychic war around the globe. Many have willingly volunteered service to fight for The Celestine Prophecy book sellers to assist them in the mind control of the New Age masses. Some have dropped what they are doing for John 'Men are From Mars' Gray and have moved on to fight for the Celestine cause in its many sequel forms. Whoever opens the book is vulnerable to these dire forces. My third chakra, located in the region of the solar plexus, the center of will and power is closing down as I intuitively read this book with my hands. I choose not to inquire any further. I have obtained the information needed to make the choice. not to read and/or believe this book. I slowly come out, set the book aside, call my energies back and separate from the negativity perceived. End of session.

If you are multi-dimensionally attuned and want to enhance your intuitive abilities for protection, try the above method on any book, magazine, audio/video cassette or other published material of your choice which involves prophecy/conspiracy. As you prepare to do a clairsentient reading, make sure to ground and center yourself. Make sure to do some kind of deep breathing, stretching, and other relaxation techniques prior to making your inquiry. Check to see if you're well protected prior to any intuitive investigation, before, during and afterwards. Also it is important to focus on the heart chakra (the center of love and compassion) so you don't come from a place of power and control (this takes much time, so be patient). When you are ready, then ask, "Where does the information about possible outcomes/scenarios for humanity in this book and/or article originally come from?" Then pay attention to how your subtle body responds to your inquiry. "How can I benefit from this work? How will it enable me to transcend instead of promote fear?"

The answers may not be immediate but they will come, often in very unique and imaginative forms. Make sure to pay attention to your dreams as well and record them in a journal. Many times the answers/insights are disguised in the most amusing and perplexing of puns.

I also recommend using the above psychnique when surfing the net and encountering any conspiracy/prophecy/utopianistic web site that you may find to be questionably credible. The net swarms with asuric entities and one must take precautions. Another fun thing to do is to go to Target or Wal Mart and intuitively read childrens's toys, especially ones which involve reptoidal looking creatures. Many of these toys are intended to track children towards a possible conspiratorial pathway. Try intuitively reading the WWF figurines and GI Joe dolls as well. You may be surprised how these seemingly innocuous items can negatively effect us all.

Sri Aurobindo once observed that, 'An individual's karma is similar to the karma of the nation that she/he was born into.' Such a karmic perspective on conspiracy/prophecy will further enable us to consider that much of what embodies outside of ourselves directly mirrors what is going on in our own unconscious minds and bodies. With such a broad perspective, we can then begin to approach the nebulously dangerous territory of conspiracy with more openness, patience and courage. Such a view may help us, more importantly, to transform our fears, making ourselves more accommodating to others, more authentic and sincere.

Aghora:At the Left hand of God by Robert Svodoba (Parts I, II, and III) Brotherhood of Life, Inc. 1986,

Robert spent much time in India with the Aghori Yogi Vimalananda. Aghoris are known for directly confronting and overcoming fear by meditating on top of corpses, eating human brains, feces, etc. Aghora means: Not Terrifying or Beyond Fear. I recommend these works if you are contemplating meditating on the corpse of our Military /Industrial Complex and Transnational Corporations in order to over come your personal fears of these entities. A perfect how to manual for anyone who wants to see through all illusions and how to take the first steps towards doing so.

Overcoming Fear: What's the Secret? by Phil Nuernberger, Yoga International Magazine , November/December 1994 pg. 21

Phil describes some of the elementary forms of fear and how to overcome them using yogic techniques. A very good introduction to the terms used in Yoga philosophy to describe the various forms and manifestations of fear.

Trance Zero: Breaking the Spell of Conformity by Adam Crabtree, Somerville House Publishing, 1997

Useful information on the various forms of trance manipulation, from the seemingly innocuous (the trance between partners) to the more obvious forms of propaganda and how we can avoid being coerced by them.

A good book to develop a rudimentary awareness of various trance states.

Facets of Unity by A.H. Almaas, Diamond Books, 1998

Almaas has written some of the most sophisticated books, combining spiritual practices such as Sufism and Buddhism with Western psychology. He talks much about the false self that can be directly experienced during meditation. It feels like a shell in the body which distorts and diminishes ones essence, or true self. His work has afforded a perspective on conspiracy, helping me to realize that it all isn't purely on the outside. 'We are it' so to speak. I highly recommend all of his works to the sincere aspirant.

The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche. A how- to manual to overcome the fear of death, the most primary and deeply rooted fear that we are controlled by on a daily basis. I especially recommend the chapters on Phowa practice, enabling one to eject their consciousness out of the fontanelle so as to prevent rebirth in some unwanted hell state. Accommodating a Buddhist perspective on conspiracy as a bardo state is most helpful at times. Buddhists consider negativity in its many forms to be projections of the individual's ego. It is up to us, using meditative practices to dissolve these projections, to start taking responsibility for them. Once we do, the less fear controls our lives, the less we have to depend of scenarios sold to us.

9-11: An Intuitive Perspective

Lava@lavacocktail.com

I had just come out of meditation on the morning of September 11th when I received a phone call from my boss. "Get over here...you're never going to see anything like this." I threw some pants on and dashed across the hall and into his apartment. The first image I saw on the t.v. was the jetliner smashing into the World Trade Center and exploding. I fought the tendency to focus on the physicality of the event and managed to read the aura surrounding the building as it was impacted. As the flames billowed, a huge rift appeared above the structure and all this dark energy started pouring in. The aura around New York was torn wide open. Sensitized by the meditation, my clairsentient (clear seeing) abilities were quite heightened, enabling me to perceive these things. I made sure not to identify with what I saw as I do when meditating, but rather detached and focused on my heart chakra instead. While the horror unfolded before me I could feel something trying to cord my third chakra (solar plexus) and drain energy from me. It took everything I had not to get psychically sucked into the vortex created by the burning towers. It was nearly impossible not to gaze. I found myself becoming hypnotized by the horror unfolding before me. I broke away and returned to my televisionless apartment and prepared for the work day. I vowed not to look at any mainstream media venues if I could help it. I had used this sanity preserving, avoidance technique on prior occassions such as when the Space Shuttle exploded in 1986. Avoiding the media has been one of the best strategies to help maintain a sense of a heart centered self, not to mention the fact that it enables me to thwart mind control most effectively. I managed to get through the day quite well, until later that afternoon, when we went to one of our Jewish customer's house. I'm most fond of this customer primarily because of her warmth, humor and cynical wit. When she opened the door, I read her aura to see how she was handling the tragedy. It looked very similar to the aura surrounding the World Trade Center but on a microcosmic scale. Her aura was crazy (crazy literally means: full of cracks) and all sorts of dark energy spiraled around. She looked absolutely frayed, no doubt having watched the disaster over and over again, all day long on t.v. "You heard it hear first." She told us. "Bin Laden did it." Again I detached as best I could, feeling my stomach start to tighten up and outwardly went along with what she was saying. However, I knew that whatever she heard on t.v. could not be trusted in anyway. She had many cords in her third chakra. (for those of you who do not know what cords are, they are psychic cords or strings which attach to the etheric body. Cording is very manipulative. As an example, if someone wants to have sex with you but cannot tell you outright, they will cord your second chakra which is below the navel, in hopes that you will get the message and initiate something that will gratify the passive person doing the cording. A most helpful book which will clarify things like cords, auras and chakras is The Psychic Healing Book by Amy Wallace.) On the night of 9-11, I went to bed early and could feel how the trauma was being pulsed through the atmosphere. I made sure to surround myself with bright colors and fell into a deep sleep. The next day, I woke up energized and high spirited, refusing to buy into the collective mind set that pervaded. I somehow managed to pierce through the pervading vibration of trauma, fear, hate and anger. All morning long at work I felt calm and relaxed. However, on the front page of the newspaper my boss pulled out of his bag at lunch, was the image of the plane hitting the tower. I looked at it, forgetting about the meditation technique of detaching and not identifying with what one sees. I felt nearly all of my positive energy drain out of me. My solar plexus tightened up and I began to feel nauseous. "God damned Muslims." My boss cursed. He had taken the bait like the legions of people who are not aware of how our psyches can be manipulated through the etheric body via the media. I simply went along with it, while knowing otherwise, chiming in with sarcastic comments like "Nuke em' all." I could see the dark swirls in his aura as well. I then realized that I had to be very careful about entertaining such thoughts since they were coming in through the torn aura of America and into my very own head. These negative memes were attempting to colonize my mind. Since then, I've been trying hard not to entertain violent, cynical thoughts but it has not been very easy at all. I just keep reminding myself to detach from the negativity swirling around. Please let me emphasize: detachment is not indifference. I have received many phone calls from my intuitive counseling clients asking me how they should deal with the trauma of 9-11. "Turn off your t.v.s and don't read the newspapers." I have been telling them. Some called back and told me that was the best thing they could have done as it restored some resemblance of peace and sanity into their lives. I suggest the same to you as well. Meditation has been most difficult since the attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Through the chakras located in the arches of our feet we can gain much information about what is happening to the earth. Through the feet chakras, I've been sensing the 9-11 trauma being impulsed through throughout the globe to further manipulate us on a massive scale. Most U.S. citizens are probably not aware of these kind of manipulations, especially those who do not have some kind of regular spiritual practice like yoga and meditation. It is this kind of awareness that the powers that be don't want us to have. I'm convinced that the more we fixate on the plethora of horrible images provided to us, the more psychically shut down we will become. As I got into a deeper meditative state, I paid close attention to the trauma coming up through my legs and into my first chakra, the chakra of life force, survival and past lives. I detached, breathed bright red into my groin area and relaxed. I could feel fear diminshing as I did this. There is much sleight of hand involved in the propaganda that is proliferating itself through the military controlled media at the moment. I suggest paying attention to how your physical body, especially the solar plexus, responds to the images and the various forms of disinformation being fed us and begin to rely on this intuitive information instead of what is coming through the t.v. Last night as I tried to fall asleep, my guardian angels came in and offered to do some healing on my crown chakra (the chakra of wisdom). Grateful for these very wise beings's help (wise enough to have learned how to excarnate once and for all from the earth plane), they seemed to be giving me some needed protection from the dark forces at large. This made it easier to see the entities taking the opportunity of entering in through America's torn aura and the aura of individuals as well, possessing people, no doubt fueling the growing hatred towards the perpetrators of the crime whoever they may be. While I was receiving this healing, negative entities tried their best to possess me. I felt bleedthrough from parallel universes of an overtly Nazified variety, universes taking advantage of the torn, collective aura of the United States. Many negative thoughts over took me even though I was aware of the etheric manipulations at hand. I successfully detached from these entities with the help of my positive guides and slept peacefully. I only offer this intuitive perspective of 9-11 as an alternative to the highly manipulative, Corporate media blitzkrieg technique of radically impacting the collective psyche with such 'unforgettable' images of the disaster.

From a karmic point of view, what happened on 9-11 is nothing new compared to previous disasters in the past such as found in Atlantis, India during the time of the Mahabharata War, or Nazi Germany. The only difference now is how we choose to respond. We can react to what has happened and fall into the mind control traps deliberately set up for us (supporting full scale war for example or whatever else George W. decides to do) or we can respond from a place of spiritual evolvement where we can see opportunities to further understand the abuses of power both within and beyond ourselves.

There is another recently published book I recommend: Catastrophobia by Barbara Hand Clowe. I once attended a talk given by this astrologer cum Pleiadian diplomat, on how the disaster of Atlantis is still alive in our cellular bodies. As she elaborated on this, I could feel the collective trauma of the sinking of Atlantis in the audience. Ever since Barbara's insightful talk, I have been most attentive to how this trauma and others like have been manipulated by the powers that be, especially through the Hollywood apparatus. Now we have before us, an excellent opportunity to study, from an etheric/spiritual perspective, how the 9-11 trauma is being used to mind, if not body and soul control the masses. We only need to overcome our personal fears and misgivings of using such perceptive abilities that I believe we all have, in order to do so.

My Orgasmic Orgone Accumulator

My Orgasmic Orgone Accumulator
Posted by Lava Cocktail at Saturday, August 23, 2008

A few years ago, after being sent a review copy of The Orgone Accumulator Handbook by James DeMeo, I made a portable one out of a coffee can, wool felt and plenty of steel wool. I then stuffed steel wool into a rain gauge and this serves as my accumulator wand, although the instructions call for a test tube which I couldn't find at the time of construction. I also made a two ply accumulator blanket as well, which I use in my healing work.

The most tangible orgone results have been gotten from putting flower seeds into the accumulator for approx. ten days. Not having a green thumb whatsoever, I have to confess that I was quite amazed at how robust the flowers have become. considering that I just dumped them in the dirt and raked them a few times to spread them out during an unusually cold spring in Minnesota. They continue to grow, some over waist high now-without any application of fertilizer on my part. I've done nothing other than weeding the flower bed once and watering the plants on a regular basis, making sure to praise their good growing job, out loud of course.

Flowers from seeds put into an Orgone Accumulator

First developed by Wilhelm Reich who was most likely murdered by the AMA/ FDA for coming up with something that worked, i.e. using orgone energy to do everything from dissolve people's character armor and alleviate neurosis to improving plant growing as described above, we still can benefit from his genius and insight by making accumulators of our own. It is a fun project for sure and even a sequential klutz such as myself was able to follow the directions which can be found in DeMeo's book in chapter 16.

Orgone is most likely Reich's name for what is otherwise known as prana, chi, etc. i.e. life energy that diminishes with such things as pollution, emfs from cell phone towers and chem trails. Ironically, Demeo denies the existence of chem trails. Thus prompted, I sent him several pictures of them, one of which is included in Jerry E. Smith's Weather Warfare book, but DeMeo dismissed them all. My take on this is that he is worried about losing his credibility-esp. since he is an advocate of Reich's work and has successfully continued on with it without suffering the same harassment as Reich did, as far as I know. Maybe he'll see the reality of chem trails someday and not be afraid to admit it-then apply his knowledge of Reich's work in this area.

Reich also developed cloud busting technology which is thoroughly described in Heretic's Notebook: Emotions, Protocells, Ether-Drift and Cosmic Life Energy edited by James DeMeo and which I also reviewed a few years ago (it will take some digital digging to find it but when I do I'll post it here)-certainly worth checking out. For now I'm going to stick with the flowers and be grateful for such living proof of the efficacy of orgone accumulators.

Aloha Lava Cocktail Surfers,

Thanks for indulging in this issue of LCR. The summer solstice is a powerful time when we reach the maximum amount of light, thanks to the 23 degree tilt of the earth’s axis, a light that should fully illumine the crimes committed by George Bush and his kakistocracy cronies. (For that to happen, we need to bring in more spiritual light which we are fully capable of doing) While Dennis Kucinich and a few anomolous others attempt to get the impeachment ball rolling, the overall silence and Democratic complacency, as evidenced by Nancy Pelosi's continued vacant staring, should shock any U.S. citizen with even a smidgen of political conscience. Yet, the media continues to successfully quell any dissenting voices and only pays lip service to a few token advocates of people's rights such as Michael Moore. See Aeolus Kephas article on this at:

http://www.paranoiamagazine.com/zeitgeist.html

It is nothing more than the continual evocation of collective amnesia at work. As an exercise, I suggest to LCR readers to meditate on such things in the seemingly distant past such as the Saving and Loan scandal during the Reagan years and compare/contrast it with the sub prime mortgage debacle that has thoroughly knocked out the already rotted foundation of our economy and has set us into a tailspin even the most seasoned pilots at the Federal Reserve won't be capable of pulling us out of, not that they’d want to anyways. The criminals that run this country have become caricatures of the very archetypes of evil themselves, so hollow that there's nothing to point a finger at, except very well managed mirages conjured by the trans-national corporations that run this country. And now with Obama and his racist wife promising "change" for the justice thristy amongst us, there will be, guaranteed, more of the same, only even more difficult to pinpont when it comes to bringing the thieves who have stolen America's heart into the courtroom. I recently posted an article on my blog called "The Obama Illusion" and very much worry that if he gets into office he will use the politically correct phalanxes at hand, to ensure that any criticism of his ‘business as usual’, corporate ass kissing policies will be a form of racial discrimination. It could very well be that the whole politically correct phenomena was created by our intelligence forces and deliberately designed to lead up to this very point, of providing us with a truly “blameless” candidate. What is so sinister about the so-called alternatives that we are provided with now is that they are born of some very sophisticated and effective forms of paradoxical psychological manipulation. It is even harder to get to the truth when we are subjected to this classic mind control technique that I've describe elsewhere. What happens is that have no choice but to dissociate and get cut off from our very source, our living font of consciousness, conscience, empathy- and are at the mercy of the very puppet masters behind all of this pathetic, yet devastatingly effective stagecraft.

What I suggest is to first pay attention to the divorcement from reality that dissociation creates and how it affects your physical, mental and emotional bodies, because when we are put into a suspended state of animation, we become fair game for manipulations on many levels. As I've stated before in my Lava Cocktail Hour show on Blog Talk Radio, and in some of my blog essays, that if we don't understand dissociation or are aware of it, we cannot perceive or comprehend the mass dissociation that is occurring, particularly in the U.S.

On a very pragmatic level, one only needs to look at how gas prices are manipulated over a period of time instead of sudden price increases-all to condition the public into a state of dissociation and accepting this egregious usury. Years ago, on one radio station I was trying to tell the announcer that the best way to implement any kind of oppressive program to the public is to do it gradually and cited an example of a picture that I saw in a newspaper of two elderly women getting vaccinations at a toll booth, all as a way to get the public to accept this seemingly innocuous (pardon the pun) thing that could very well lead to mandatory vaccinations carried out on our nation's freeways. The announcer couldn't or wouldn’t grasp this concept and continued to ridicule me as being ‘paranoid’, yet we truly are on the brink of mandatory vaccinations being enforced now. It is certainly happening in our schools. If we are fully present and not dissociated, we become aware of these tactics and cannot be persuaded by them.

In addition to the gradual implementation program cited above, I saw a classic example of paradoxical psychological manipulation being employed, where a newscaster pretended to lament the nearly four dollars a gallon that we are paying currently for gas with the $.12 a gallon that is charged in Venezuela, one of the most oil rich countries in the world. What this does is to paralyze us through the simultaneous introduction of two extremes, making the latter seem so remote and unlikely, even.... undesirable, since the country is run by a blatantly anti-Amerrican Hugo Chavez.

For myself, the best way to prevent paradoxical psychological manipulation and other forms of MK is to focus on the heart, because I don't think bipolar dysfunction could ever manifest on this level-as the heart is about unity, balance and being open to positive change. It is the fulcrum point between the lower earthbound/ego bound chakras and the upper, more ‘spiritual’ chakras in the subtle body. Then, I check to see how present with my surrounding environment I am and those that I'm in proximity to and how adept I am at adapting to their own reality tunnels, idiosyncratic peculiarities: whether it's my deer hunting, snowmobile driving neighbor or friend in South Africa who believes her daughter is losing her soul to reptilian forces. This is extremely difficult and challenging work but it must be done if any can a significant transformation is going to take place.

Another suggestion that I've hopefully not beaten people over the head with too much, but I feel it's very important, is to connect with nature and see how it responds to you. If you are in a dissociated state, chances are the animals will mirror back to you your divorcement. For me, this seems to always manifest in birds fighting within close proximity to me- such as two Ruby Throated hummingbirds duking it out about 3 feet from my face one day, when I was off somewhere else/angry about something, instead of being fully present with my surroundings. One example of nature providing signs in terms of which direction to go occurred the day after a very stressful exchange with two elderly people I’m care taking. During a morning bike ride I encountered two Snapping Turtles attempting to warm up their blood on the road leading into the park. When I got home, I looked up the Native American meaning of such an encounter and the qualities of patients, nurturance, protection, the ability to adapt jumped out at me from the text and I interpreted the signs to incorporate those very qualities into my life to re-harmonize the care taking situation and it worked wonders!

It may be a far leap to read the signs of nature when addressing such remotely controlled criminals as George Bush, Dick Cheney etc. but one time I was giving a demonstration of my Integral Tarot work and drew the Coyote card from the Medicine deck in front of an audience. Prior to this, I had projected an image of George Bush on to the movie screen, then projected the Coyote-the trickster/deceiver right next to him. This was right before the 2000 so-called election. Coyote was attempting to warn us all about some very deceptive things to come and that certainly happened considering that Bush literally stole his way into the White House, as has been so thoroughly documented by such journalists as Greg Palast (esp. in his book Armed Madhouse).

Well, thanks for riding along with my solstice digression here. Take advantage of our maximum light (at least for those of you residing in the Northern Hemisphere) and bring it fully into all areas of your body and mind and soul and realize just how resilient you are and how you do have the adaptigenic potential to ward off the various forms of mind control we we must confront in virtually every aspect of our lives now-both in our sleeping and waking states.

Mencken Prophecy

As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Porn Soup
by Paul Krassner

Challenging consensus morality comes naturally to satirist and radical activist Paul Krassner, who takes on the most forbidden topics known to humankind, without flinching one bit in his latest compilation of provactive essays, Porn Soup. The book is a cornucopia of irreverence, transgression and downright titillating fun when you spoon more deeply down to the bottom of its sordid bowl and will leave you thoroughly satisfied with the read. Within its pages, one can vicariously thrill to Paul’s description of watching Lenny Bruce get serviced by none other than Blow Job Betty, at least until the gratified comedian sent him out of the hotel room before the couple headed for home plate. Krassner’s hilarious yet sobering piece “Masturbation Helper” describes the most taboo of all sex acts, which according to the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia is an “abominable and wicked act” and is a definite no-no throughout the Islamic world. According to Paul, sexually frustrated U.S. Soldiers in Iraq have been given relief kits distributed by Christian New Life Ministries to preserve their “sexual purity”, all in hopes to prevent them from engaging in a little one hand jerking that may seriously lower troop morale, front line stamina and leave us all vulnerable to the predations of Middle Eastern terrorists. Surely, it must be an honor for an enemy of the U.S. Army to be slaughtered by a ‘sexually pure’ soldier and a guaranteed entry into Islamic heaven to boot.

In the chapter “Addicted to Porn” Krassner skewers an Oprah Winfrey guest named Dr. Weiss, a “self made expert on addiction to pornography.” who apparently makes up the statistics about how many people are hooked on smut, primarily to reinforce his own twisted perspective on the forbidden topic. According to sex writer Susie Bright who is featured in this piece, “There’s not a citation in the world to support him.” Worse than opportunistic Weiss are the Fundamentalist churches who rely on porn to guilt and shame people. “It is so cruel to lead them on and make them think they are dealing with a pathology that requires spending thousands of dollars to be cured by ‘Doctor’ Weiss.” Bright laments.

Porn soup will pleasurably edify all who read it, from wallflower prudes to full bloom prostitutes and will enable us to clearly see the insidious disease created by our persistent and morbid fixation on sexual taboos.

Math for Mystics: From the Fibonacci Sequence to the Golden Section and Other Secrets of Sacred Geometry
by
Renna Shesso

Weiser Books
ISBN: 1-57863-383-4
Published in 2007
$16.95

Once emanating from a core mystical dimension, numbers as of late have fallen from grace and into the hands of accountants, statisticians and other bean counters bent on cooking their data for maximum profit and deception. However in Math for Mystics: From the Fibonacci Sequence to the Golden Section and Other Secrets of Sacred Geometry author Renna Shesso frees numbers from their imprisonment in spreadsheets, digital calculators and ticker tapes, putting them back into their rightful place, within a more sacred coign of the realm. Citing examples from Egyptian, Celtic, Sumerian and Babylonian mythology, the author demonstrates how mathematics was once considered an essentially spiritual activity which primordially originated from the human body, such as counting the phases of the moon on one’s fingers and thumbs. (We tend to forget that our units of measurement such as the ‘foot’ and ‘fathom’ are originally based on the human body). Shesso even recommends measuring out a personal magical circle using ones own footsteps in order to reclaim the subjective dimension of numbers and grasp their intuitive import . The author shows sufficient etymological command throughout Math for Mystics, making the metaphysical perusal of this work most enjoyable and enlightening indeed. As an example, the word ‘cubit’ comes from the Latin cubitum which means ‘elbow’ (indicating the measurement from the fingertip to the elbow). Shesso seems to suggest that one method to check the illusion that numbers are ‘absolute’ is to take measurementsusing one’s own body and provides ample sources as to how this was done in the past. As an example a ‘fathom’ has been defined as being six feet in length. However, a Greek source from 450 BCE cites the fingertip to fingertip fathom as being seven feet-based on the measurment derived from a human subject. The author shows us that we can find our ‘personal’ fathom by using the measurements of our own bodies (it would be a wonderful project to create tape measures, rulers, perhaps even calculators from our own personal measurements.) The author then goes into the realm of Magic Squares and how letters and numbers are interrelated (the art of Gematria) Most intriguing is her mention of how the Babylonian King Sargo II ‘had a wall constructed to the length of 16, 283 cubits based on the numerical value of his name.’ making one wonder whose names are behind such anonymous edifices as the Pentagon, the United Nations building and the Monsanto Corporation.

The author also explores the realm of Magic Squares and the correspondences between planets, numbers and letters. She mentions scrying with a crystal ball placed in the center of a ‘lo shu’ where the number five should be, a topic she could have elaborated on more fully as it is a little known about practice. Also included are the Durer Square a.k.a. the square of Jupiter, based on the cryptic calculations of the creator of such masterpieces as Melencholia which the author suggests has the ‘cure’ encoded within the print itself.

Throughout Math for Mystics, Renna Shesso evokes the long lost humane dimension of numbers. The value of this work should not be underestimated, especially for those who struggle with mathematics and have been judged and condemned as ‘innumerate’ by professors, counselors and the like. If the sacred dimension of numbers is re-incorporated into our everyday lives, whether we are measuring ingridients for a recipe or plotting out a garden path, they can no longer be abused, manipulated, coerced into fitting into the mold of whatever ‘objective’ doctrine is to be imposed. If such a dimension as explored in Math for Mystics were re-incorporated into numeracy programs taughtin our schools, we would most likely have fewer students failing the subject overall. Math for Mystics should be a part of our educational curriculums indeed.

Suicide: What Really Happens in the Afterlife?
By
Pamela Rae Heath and Jon Klimo
ISBN:1556-43621-1
$21.95
Published in 2006

According to Albert Camus in his seminal The Myth of Sisyphus, the question of whether or not to commit suicide was the only true philosophical question. If he had been able to break free of his own existential limitations (and those of his Catholic upbringing as well) he would have laughed at the absurdity of the dualistic dilemma he posed for himself and his readers indeed. What if he had actually contacted those on the other side, those who did take their own lives? Would he have continued to posit the dilemma of suicide in such starkly either/or terms? Or would he have found something more transcendental and reconciling? In the book Suicide: What Really Happens in the Afterlife?, we are offered a much broader and deeper view of a topic so taboo that most of us don’t have the strength, willingness or courage to study it in the depth and breadth that it really requires. We are offered the perspective of those who have taken their lives and what they experienced in the afterlife. The authors Pamela Rae Heath and Jon Klimo have meticolously compiled information from various channelers of the departed and offer us an intriguing view that is free of morbidity, dread or even unhealthy fascination that we are prone to when we attempt to broach the topic. Instead, we have the opportunity to see emerging patterns in regards to actually what occurs by reading these channeled messages. This is so compelling because the most prominent concern for survivors of suicided people is the ultimate fate of the departed’s souls. Many spiritual traditions throughout the world try to provide an answer by stressing that suicide is strictly forbidden (unless of course it is done altruistically-for a worthy cause-such as the Buddhist monk’s protesting the Vietnam war by dousing themselves with gasoline and setting themselves on fire). In Hinduism for example, suicide is regarded nothing short of a major violation of one’s karmic contract, for the belief that a soul takes on a body to learn and spiritually evolve is very strong. The belief that the suicided soul will wander in the astral plane for thousands of years only to have to reincarnate again and face everything that was avoided in the previous life is also very strong-not only in Hinduism but in Buddhism and other spiritual traditions as well.

In part I of Suicide: What Really Happens in the Afterlife?, the authors soundly chart out the various traditional approaches to suicide such as found in Freudian psychology and his theory of thanatos (the death instinct) driving people to kill themselves. Such an overview is necessary considering the radical nature of the main topic of the book, i.e., something novel and unsettling to those not well acclimatized to non-material realms or sufficiently versed in the discourses with those who have died. What was most interesting was how the tone of channeled messages from the beyond have changed, especially from the 19th century to the 20th century. Messages received from the departed in the 1800's tended to be more stern, judgemental and unforgiving while those received in contemporary times are of a more compassionate and understanding nature, indicating that the bias and societal conditioning of one’s time are virtually inescapable.

Another topic which certainly sparked the interest of this reviewer was how different methods of suicide related to the chakra system of the subtle body. For example if one shot themselves in the head, they were expressing a sixth and seventh chakra issue (insight and wisdom) in regards to the reason they took their own lives. If one engaged in Hari-Kiri (the unsavory disembowlment method favored by the Japanese) a distinctively third chakra issue (of power and will) was at hand. Even more intriguing was the notion that committing suicide was a seemingly absolute negation of the connection with the spiritual world that exists all around us and that the soul would be faced with little to no help during the transition into the afterlife, whereas someone who was spiritually evolved and who did not take his/her life would greately increase their chances of receiving help from positive beings who would await them (and which have been described in great detail in Near Death Experience literature as compiled by such authors as Kenneth Ring).

The implications within Suicide: What Really Happens in the Afterlife? Are nothing short of profound, especially in regards to how such a broadened and inspired perspective evoked by reading this important work can assist those wrestling with the question of suicide. Perhaps in the near future the information within this book can be used in suicide prevention programs and also to address such sticky issues as assisted suicide as well-it would certainly help evolve the ongoing debates in regards to this topic. Even the so called martyr suicides that persistently disrupt potential peace from occurring., especially in the middle east could also be addressed from a healthier, non-reactionary and compassionate perspective as found within.

Psience: How New Discoveries in Quantum Physics and New Science May Explain the Existence of Paranormal Phenomena
by
Marie D. Jones
Published 2007
New Page Books
ISBN: 978-1-56414-895-7
$15.99

It is all to rare to discover a book that dares to bridge the gap between physics and the paranormal. However in Psience: How New Discoveries in Quantum Physics and New Science May Explain the Existence of Paranormal Phenomena the author does just that and in such a convincing way that it is difficult to dismiss the connections made as suitable only for supermarket tabloids. Author Marie D. Jones makes no claims to being a scientist or professional ghost hunter, vampire stalker exorcist and the like. Rather she comfortably occupies a liminal zone between the two and with an open mind offers us insights into the wondrous world of everything from noxious fly by night critters such as the blood sucking Chupacabras, poltergeists (noisy ghosts), ‘vile vortices’ as found within the Bermuda Triangle and worm holes, membrane universes, string theory and, of course, a panoply of particles from Pions, Bosons to Gravitrons. . Most writers would balk at such an unlikely synthesis of the fringe realms and the more ‘acceptable’ avenues of physics. One gets the impression that the author is free of indoctrination from either camp considering the wonderful sense of humor and ability to articulate arcane concepts in an understandable way that can be found throughout the book. Jones brings forth the possibility that UFOs that can traipse between dimensions, spectral entities and such things as precognition and telekinesis may very well be signaling to us to pay close attention to alterations in the space time fabric we call reality. Indirectly, the author suggests that perhaps these phenomena persist in myriads of ways, from time anomalies to ESP, in order that we further acclimate ourselves to multi-dimensional perception, parallel universes and the ability to effortlessly travel to and from these realms.

While having read several books on quantum physics and the paranormal this reviewer was pleased to come across little known subjects such as Random Event Generators used to detect whether or not ‘humanity shared a single subconscious mind that could be tapped into’ and how the mass mourning during the funeral of Princess Diana altered the mass consciousness of the planet. The author also covers ‘M-Theory’ which in order to work: ‘...scientists need to come to terms with the concept of an infinite number of parallel universes that exist alongside our own. ‘ as well as the Holographic Principle proposed by Dutch physicist Gerard ‘t Hooft in 1993 which states that ‘all the basic information in one part of the universe could be equivalent to some information in defined on the boundary of that part of the universe.’ While these concepts all seem rather heady, the author makes sure to ground them out in ways that are graspable by the layperson.

What makes Psience so exciting is that the phenomena described within seem to all lead to the possible realization of what is called the Zero Point Field-something that can only be grasped with a well developed intuition-which the author herself possesses (she is a licensed New Thought/Metaphysics minister and trained field investigator for MUFON-Mutual UFO Network)

Perhaps the goblins and ghouls that maraud about in the ethers, terrorizing individuals deliberately function as a kind of motley police force employed by globabist forces to ward off those who have the potential to fully comprehend and utilize the Zero Point Field (ZPF). Perhaps the above mentioned REGs will inevitably register a spike in the number of people who connect with the ZPF exceeding all previous levels, thus leading to the realization of Free Energy on this planet. Psience is sure to spark such possibilities within ourselves , enabling us to envision the realization of the Zero Point Field as something pragmatic and not forever trapped in the nebulous realm of theory as so many spin scientists are attempting to do. If enough people read this book, the critical mass required to shift the consciousness of the planet will most likely be reached before it is too late.
