Hi. Here are some corrections in regard to Shelby's publishing career:
The first edition of "Apocalypse Culture" published in 1987 by Amok Press contained Downard's "King-Kill 33°" which was edited by Michael A. Hoffman II.
The "Expanded and Revised Edition" of "Apocalypse Culture" that came out in 1991 through Feral House contained another essay by Downard, "The Call to Chaos: From Adam to Atom." Fortean writer Bill Grimstad assisted with the editing of that article.
The "Secret and Suppressed" book, first issued in 1992 with Jim Keith credited as its editor, contained a Downard article, which he kindly sent to me for that purpose.
My "Cult Rapture" book, published in 1994, contained my article about Downard when I visited him in Memphis. The photograph on your article was mine of him standing in front of his house.
In 2006 we finally got around to publishing a portion of Downard's autobiography through Feral House: "The Carnivals of Life and Death."
Robert, thanks for the post.

Stripping Workers' Rights Is The 'Responsible' Way To Balance This Budget
The inequality illustrates why libertarians are wrong about everything. It is not possibly true that the people at the top have been working that much harder. It's not supply and demand that has distributed wealth that way. There are a lot of factors involved, not least relentless "free market" propaganda supported by the likes of movement libertarians, who seem to think that EVIL THEFT is happening only among the poor and working classes, even though they've seen absolutely no gain from all their years of supposedly rigging the system in their favor.

Sorry, The Confederacy Was About Slavery
Sorry, the Civil War was not about "slavery". It was about the South's insane 50 year demand to SPREAD slavery, according to the word of God (they claimed). If you want to be candid -- that is what the Civil War was about. For some reason, we have not taught our children, and we were not taught, the really vile motivations of Southern leaders, as they claimed at the time. The Southern leaders in Montgomery issued Five Ultimatums -- about three weeks before the South attacked. Southern newspapers announced the Ultimatums with headlines such as "THE TRUE ISSUE". All five of the Ultimatums were about the SPREAD of slavery, against the wishes of the people. That's right -- against the wishes of the people and states. The Ultimatums were printed in newspapers in the North too -- at least two New York papers reprinted them, although they didn't call them "The true issue" New York editors suggested Lincoln obey the Ultimatums to avoid war. The First Ultimatum was that (incredibly) not only that slavery be spread into the territories -- but that the US Congress must do it, by force if needed. When the South mentioned "territories" they meant, of course, Kansas. They were saying Kansas must accept and respect slavery. Kansas had just fought a four year bloody war against the thugs and hired killers from the South. The people of Kansas had just voted 98% to 2% to keep slavery out forever. Never mind that, the Southern leaders FIRST ultimatum, was that slavery be spread (forced) into Kansas, by the US government. This is so astonishing that it gives you a clue of the audacity of the Southern leaders. Did they really think Lincoln was going to force slavery into the territories? No. Of course not. But they were about braggado and threats. This is how they had kept slavery going for 70 years, this is how they treated people. Threats -- and then violence. All five Ultimatums were as goofy as the first. All five completely repudiated the fig leaf of "States Rights" because they specifically stated that states would have NO RIGHTS whatsoever to decide anything about slavery, or runaway slaves or their own courts system. Every US history text book should have the Southern Ultimatums in the next-to-the last page. And on the very last page, put the Gettysburg Address by Lincoln. Compare the two ways we could have gone -- to spread slavery by violence and threats and stomping on the pretense of human or states rights, like the South demanded under threat of war. OR do we go by what Lincoln advocated? A government of the people, for the people, by the people? Southern apologist today dare not repeat what their own leaders bragged about, what their own newspapers called "THE TRUE ISSUE" what their own new country demanded upon promise of war -- the spread of slavery.

John "JT" Tully of Broadcatching ( http://broadcatching.wordpress.com/ ) had this to say about critics of Mohamed ElBaradei:
I've been a HUGE fan of ElBaradei ever since his insistence that there were NO WMD's in Iraq in his capacity as Official Weapons Inspector for the UN o those many years ago...
Fair enough, and the piece by PrisonPlanet.com did reduce ElBaradei to nothing more than a Western stooge without giving credit where credit is due. On the other hand, there are many politicians who, whatever their impressive moves towards democracy, have been economic losers in their country due to their dedication to neoliberalism. (Mikhail Gorbachev and Iran's Mohammad Khatami come to mind.) Whatever his dedication to a democratic culture, this appears the path ElBaradei would head things in.

Was John Lennon's murderer Mark Chapman a CIA hitman?
Dr Stuart Jeanne Bramhall
Wednesday, December 29, 2010
The BBC made an excellent documentary about the extensive role US intelligence played in John Lennon's life (and death). They played it here in New Zealand for the 30th anniversary. I doubt if it got air time in the US. It was the first time I had heard Yoko speak out about the assassination. I was astonished to learn of the number of assassination attempts she experienced (starting the day after John was killed). Even more ominous were all the break-ins she experienced to her apartment at the Dakota Hotel. She talks about John's personal stuff being stolen - letters, his diary. The diary was later put back with obvious forgeries in it. She talks about a letter John got from Chapman a month before the murder, where the date was altered and put back in the apartment. All the break-ins, assassination attempts against his mom clearly took a toll on Sean Lennon. Who is utterly convinced the US government killed his dad. I first became aware of the government role in Lennon's assassination in 1987, owing to my own close encounter with US intelligence. I write about this in my recent memoir THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY ACT: MEMOIR OF AN AMERICAN REFUGEE (http://www.stuartbramhall.com/). I currently live in exile in New Zealand.

WaPo 2010 neologism contest
Pat Myers
Wednesday, December 29, 2010
Actually, it's two Style Invitational contests from back in 1998 that are the sources of many of the neologisms in the list above. (But not all: For example, "decafalon" isn't a one-letter change from "decathlon," is it? Or "caterpallor"?)
Much better to see the current Invitational -- every week at washingtonpost.com/styleinvitational. We've had more than 600 contests since the ones above! The Style Invitational is published every Saturday in The Post's Style (features) section, and every Friday afternoon at about 3:30 Eastern time. There are neologism contests regularly, and lots of other sources of humor as well.
For example, we asked readers recently to coin a new word or term that was a palindrome (it's spelled the same backward and forward). Here are some of the top winners (results printed Oct. 16):
AHA HAHA: When you finally get the joke. (Tom Flaherty, Culpeper, Va.)
EGADAGE: "Heck," "darn," etc. (Jeff Contompasis, Ashburn)
NAMETAG-GATEMAN: The conference organizer who won't let you enter until you've ruined your jacket with adhesive paper. (Dion Black, Washington)
AMENEMA: Blessed relief. (Anne Morgan, Fairfax, a First Offender)
DROWSYSWORD: Impotence. (Roy Ashley, Washington)
See the rest of the winners and learn how to enter the current contest at washingtonpost.com/styleinvitational. Or you can become a fan of "Washington Post Style" on Facebook (go to facebook.com/wapostyle ) and you'll get a link to the Invitational when it's posted. I hope you become a regular reader and maybe even a regular entrant.

I, too, am troubled by the superficial content of the recent cables that have been released. There is really no new information there that isn't widely available on the Internet. I find nothing related to the "strategic" reasons the US is at war in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Nothing about the Pentagon agenda to foster the secession of oil and mineral rich Balochistan from Pakistan as a US client state - just like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and other former Soviet republics. Nothing about CIA support for the Baloch separatist movement. Nothing about the CIA training young Baloch separatists in bomb making and other terrorist activities to disrupt operations at the Chinese-built Gwadar Port (intended to transport Iranian oil and natural gas via Pakistan to China.)

A Holiday Thought...
Aren't humans amazing? They kill wildlife - birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.
Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative - and fatal - health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.
So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases.
Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.
Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and once a year send out cards praying for "Peace on Earth."

FeedBack: Was John Lennon's murderer Mark Chapman a CIA hitman?
Strongman is right. Chapman was a patsy set up for the hit by the CIA's MK-Ultra program. Why? Because Lennon was due to win his U.S. citizenship a few months later, and they needed to eliminate the chance that Lennon would have joined the opposition to their murderous counterrevolutionary wars in Central America (esp. Nicaragua and El Salvador), just getting underway as Reagan's transition team was taking power in December 1980. Anyone who was not involved at the time is bound to underestimate the ferocity of the war planners' attack, their resolution to do anything necessary to maintain the feudal status quo in these tiny impoverished countries lest the "threat of a good example" (Oxfam UK's phrase) loosen their grip elsewhere in their sphere of influence. "Stephen Hawking: God didn't create universe"
Ron Krumpos:
In "The Grand Design" Stephen Hawking postulates that the M-theory may be the Holy Grail of physics...the Grand Unified Theory which Einstein had tried to formulate and later abandoned. It expands on quantum mechanics and string theories.
In my e-book on comparative mysticism is a quote by Albert Einstein: “…most beautiful and profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and most radiant beauty – which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive form – this knowledge, this feeling, is at the center of all religion.”
Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity is probably the best known scientific equation. I revised it to help better understand the relationship between divine Essence (Spirit), matter (mass/energy: visible/dark) and consciousness (f(x) raised to its greatest power). Unlike the speed of light, which is a constant, there are no exact measurements for consciousness. In this hypothetical formula, basic consciousness may be of insects, to the second power of animals and to the third power the rational mind of humans. The fourth power is suprarational consciousness of mystics, when they intuit the divine essence in perceived matter. This was a convenient analogy, but there cannot be a divine formula.

John Barleycorn Must Die is a telling of the basic near easter-european fertility god myth.
Compare this to the myth of Persephone, the myth of Adonis, and the Jesus myth.

John Barleycorn represents the spirit of the harvested grain. The song is both a metaphor, and a poetic explanation of the killing of grain.

Brought to you by the fish industry! ;-) The only true anti-aging and anti-cancer elixir is a 100% RAW FOOD DIET. The body was designed to only eat raw foods, which contain all of the enzymes within them to digest those very foods. When the body eats cooked food, not only do the white blood cells of the body rush to the stomach to attack the "poison" that it doesn't recognize (thus leading to people getting sleepy after eating), but also the body has to use up its own limited supply of enzymes to digest the food that was just ingested... thus leading to aging. Also, cancer cells can not exist in the presence of oxygen... and cooked food has all of the oxygen cooked out of it. Raw food still has its oxygen intact. Anybody selling an "elixir of youth" that is outside of these "raw food" facts is selling you a pile of BS.

I read your post of Wayne Maden’s article about Blackwater, which uses first person testimony to characterize the multiple layers of corruption that typify the agency. The article, points out that the organization has generally operated with impunity. I think the following video will fit well in your post:
http://www.newsy.com/videos/blackwater_more_help_than_we_thought
It uses coverage from various news sources to describe the political, constitutional, and international implications of the use of Blackwater for covert ops. The video provides background information about Blackwater to put the political, and legal, concerns surrounding the issue into context.
I think it will compliment your post because it uses expert analysis to examine the implications of using military contractors, which operate without congressional oversight.
Newsy.com videos analyze news coverage of important issues from multiple sources. Its unique method of presenting how different media outlets cover a story gives context to complex global issues.

So let me get this right, the Tesla head guy paid GQ magazine to write an article about how arrogant he is and ditched his smart wife and left her with 5 kids for a teenie bopper that he was cheating with and announced a battery deal that was really just an R&D contract and has multiple lawsuits against them by other companies, and may have a car that causes cancer from battery EMF and has created a pool of past staff that write endless blogs about how bad they are and then raised prices because they had no idea how to build a car and lied to the City of San Jose and their customers and applied for their only source of funds without even reading the rules that told them in advance they should never try to build a factory and is trying to sell an insanely expensive car in a depression while every investor has deeply reviewed them and turned them down and Musk won’t even put his money in (of which he has hundreds of millions) and all of their technology has now been superseded by Fisker, Bright and others with cars that do more for 2/3rds less money. ?? Tesla employees are so ready to jump ship that Musk spies on them with fake internal emails… hmmmmmm

Tesla has let America down. They need to go away now and let the others take the lead:

Robalini! Haven't heard from you in a long time - this is 'checkingforelves' here. I wanted to say thanks for the support! But more importantly, I wanted to thank you because it was your book, "50 reasons not to vote for Bush", that woke me out of the media stupor we are all in - I think it was 5 or 6 pages in I was just sort of dumbfounded at the realization - I had never even entertained the notion - that American Media was broken and I had been completely lied to. I don't even remember if I finished the book - I still have it and just broke it out again to re read it - but I don't know, if I hadn't opened that book, whether I would have even turned against the war. It seems like a lifetime ago, but there was really a point when I just didn't question the American Media. I remember saying dumb things like "well, ok FoxNews might be theater, sure... but certainly if there was any truth to this 'war for oil' crap I'd see it on CNN right? You can't say CNN is biased, can you?"
Just reading a tiny piece of '50 Reasons' was like ice-water in the face. I almost avoided reading it because I thought it was like a joke, like a 'Top Ten' type thing - but I'm glad I gave it a chance because I started asking big questions. I didn't go radical then, but it started the process. Thanks man, I know you worked hard on that book and probably didn't see a profit on it, but at least you did that thing we all say - "if I could reach one person..." you did man, you totally did.
Again, thanks for the support. Feel free, also, to let me know if you think you see anything on 'elves' that should get a correction or a modification - I can use all the help I can get.
Seriously.
