Well it was either that or coverage of the 16,000 kids a day in the US reportedly dying of poverty/hunger-related causes. And that's a ratings-killer, so boring. I mean without drunken celeb-majesty, wtf would we do during "no-news" cycles? probably just talk about the insanity of zero-sum economics. I'm counting my blessings.
