Thanks as always for Konformist. I would like to point out, however, that the proposition that John McCain actually won all 170 delegates from Kalifornia is absurd. Calli is not a "winner take all" state, so McCain would have to have taken every congressional district for that to be true. The proportions of Republican voters voting for each Republican candidate has been reported as being the SAME in every single congressional district but two! With Rudy Giuliani having dropped out of the race, scoring higher than Ron Paul everywhere. Even here in Santa Cruz, in Sam Farr's liberal/progressive district, where I personally know many Dems who re-registered to vote for Rep. Paul, and where despised is not too strong a word for how folks generally feel about Rudy.

I have to suspect that things are just as "massaged" in many other states. They are STILL recounting New Hampshire, where Bev Harris has documented severe irregularities in the way the Secretary of State is conducting the recount. It would seem impossible to begin to straighten out the many irregularities anecdotally reported across the country at this point.

Ron Paul has just stated that he will absolutely not be mounting an independent campaign should he not gain the Republican nomination, and that he thinks McCain will have a lock on it before the convention opens. Still, he's going to continue to mount the most serious campaign possible until that happens. It seems clear that the "contradictions" of our current "system" are emerging across the board everywhere. In the face of the looming failures, only one candidate is willing to talk about the big lies that undergird current arrangements, based almost entirely on disinfo and deception, and that's Ron Paul. Whatever disagreements we might have with aspects of his thinking, he's the only one who will talk open-mindedly about freedom, or talk about such initiatives as ending debt financing of the federal government or stopping the progress toward the North American Union, otherwise basically a done deal. "They" can't live with a president like Paul. The selection of any other candidate seems, however, to mean an unbraked slide into the abyss.
