Polar bear to be protected as a 'threatened' species

I'm ecstatic to announce that less than an hour ago the Associated Press reported that the polar bear is to be protected as a 'threatened' species under the Endangered Species Act. This historic move marks the first time a species is officially listed as threatened by global warming, and is a great step forward in the fight.

I want to thank each and every one of you who took part - whether it was sending in public comments, telling your friends, donating money, collecting signatures, or writing letters, your action and support made this happen.

I also encourage you to make a donation to Environmental Action in honor of this historic event - click here to give on our secure site, and help us continue promoting positive action on behalf of the environment.

Good work today everybody. I'm proud of all of us.

Sincerely,

Dan Stafford
