Fiesta Bowl Scandal

The Fiesta Bowl will be investigated by the Bowl Championship Series after organizers for the Arizona game fired president and CEO John Junker on Tuesday for "an apparent scheme" to reimburse employees for political contributions and "an apparent conspiracy" to cover it up.

The reimbursements, according to an internal report released by the bowl, total at least $46,539. The BCS will investigate to "consider whether the Fiesta Bowl should remain a BCS bowl game."


The upshot: the Cotton Bowl, which is at the gigantic Cowboys Stadium and is backed by billionaire Dallas owner Jerry Jones, will likely replace the Fiesta Bowl as the fourth major bowl in 2014 when the current BCS contract expires...
