RIP: Peter Falk

A two-time Oscar nominee (for Murder, Inc. and Pocketful of Miracles) Falk is best known for his iconic role as police detective Columbo on TV, a role he won four Emmy Awards for portraying. He also starred the 70s-era John Cassavetes films Woman Under the Influence and Husbands, co-starred with Alan Arkin as a CIA agent in the action-comedy The In-Laws, had roles in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and the Rat Pack musical Robin and the 7 Hoods, and spectacularly played himself in Wim Wenders' Wings of Desire. Oh yeah, he was the narrator in The Princess Bride. Not too shabby.

No foul play is suspected, but if there was any, no doubt Columbo would've been able to get the smug culprit to confess after continual badgering...
