Pearce: The sick, racist mind behind SB 1070 remains filled with bloodlust

Channel 5/KPHO's Morgan Loew did a segment for last night's newscast on state Senator Russell Pearce's plan to punish the American citizen children of undocumented parents, by making it illegal to accept or issue the birth certificate of such a child, unless one parent is a citizen.

In fact, Pearce's plans to do away with the kids nativist, anti-immigration wackos call "anchor babies" has been stewing in his hateful noggin for some time. Back in 2008, when I dubbed Pearce "Mr. Ethnic Cleansing," he had a whole slew of Nuremberg-type laws he was trying to push through the legislature.

Of the proposal concerning American children born to undocumented parents, I wrote at the time that:

Pearce has made known his intention to put a referendum on the November ballot that would prohibit hospitals from issuing birth certificates to children born of illegal parents. Never mind that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution clearly states, that "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside," and that, "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

The idea behind this proposal is something like a blood test for citizenship, something that we thankfully do not have in this country. But Pearce ain't letting the Constitution get in his way, nor human decency, nor shame.

Last night, Loew revealed some nasty e-mails Pearce has received and sent from his state Senate office account. One of those written to Pearce was chilling:

"If we are going to have an effect on the anchor baby racket, we need to target the mother. Call it sexist, but that's the way nature made it. Men don't drop anchor babies, illegal alien mothers do."

Pearce found nothing objectionable to the sentiment or the language. Keep in mind, this is the primary sponsor of SB 1070, a man who wants to be President of the state Senate, though he is already very powerful as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Remember also that if Governor Jan Brewer is elected in November, there will be no veto to stand in his way.

There have been some in the local media who have been critical of the use of the term "ethnic cleansing" to describe what's going on with SB 1070. All I can do is laugh. They have no idea how bad it's about to get.
